JOHANNESBURG — Sportswear giant Nike is reportedly set to unveil its latest collaboration with South African provocateur Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, a collection that promises to combine “streetwear, social justice and the energy of walking through Joburg CBD at 11am on a workday”.

The collection, titled Keep Marching, features a range of athletic footwear inspired by Jacinta’s commitment to keeping marching until South Africa has zero immigrants — provided they are not funding her organisation.

“When I was stopping random immigrants on the streets of South Africa, I kept thinking about one thing,” Jacinta told The Grapevine News. “It should not be so uncomfortable on one’s feet to kick people out of the country. That’s when I knew I needed a footwear partner that shares my values.”

The headline product is reportedly the Abahambe Air Max 11, a sleek, South African flag-coloured sneaker featuring a distinct leopard-print Swoosh and a reinforced sole designed for maximum performance during impromptu marches.

“We wanted something that could transition seamlessly from a Nike store to a protest outside Home Affairs,” said Ethan Bridges, lead designer of the sneaker.

At press time, pre-sales for the Jacinta Air Max Deportation 1 were reportedly sold out, with customers complaining that the shoes were being resold online for three times their original price by people who may or may not have been born in South Africa.
