Rising Medical Aid And Petrol Prices Leave Family With One Affordable Option: Killing Granny At Home

Soweto - Rising medical aid premiums, petrol prices and the general cost of being alive have reportedly left one South African family with only one affordable option: killing Granny at home.
The family, who have asked not to be named (Mokoena lolz), said they had spent months trying to find ways to cut costs before realising that Granny was responsible for a significant portion of the household’s monthly expenses.“We looked at cancelling Netflix, switching supermarkets and even removing kids from school” said grandson Kabelo Mokoena. “But eventually we had to ask ourselves some difficult questions.”
According to the family, Granny’s medical aid alone had increased by 14% this year, while the cost of transporting her to and from medical appointments had become “completely unsustainable”.
At press time, the family was reportedly waiting for Black Friday before purchasing the necessary candles for Granny’s funeral. Story developing.
