Earth - A major blow has been dealt to the “dog is man’s best friend” persuasion after a dog revealed that his actual best friend is another dog.

Lollipop (née Steve) is a four-year-old rescue Labradoodle who has lived with his owner, Rob, for the past year. During that time, Lollipop has grown very close to Rob, who even refers to him as his best friend.

For a long time, humans have been under the impression that dogs are their best friends and that the relationship is mutual. Think of masterpieces like Paw Patrol. Dogs have long been portrayed as being in a deeply codependent relationship with humans. But an exclusive interview with Lollipop has revealed that perhaps our furry friends don't look at us quite the same way.“

I mean, Rob feeds me and provides shelter for me, but he’s not my best friend...” said Pop, licking his paws. “It’s like your parents. You love them, but they aren’t your best friends, right?”The dog revealed to The Grapevine that his real best friend is a dog called Muffin from their local area.“Muffin just f***** rules, man. You know? He gets me.”According to Lollipop, the pair regularly spend time together, although he declined to provide further details about their relationship, saying that “what happens at the dog park stays at the dog park.”

Rob did not answer our calls for comment and was reportedly inconsolable after learning the truth. At press time, Lollipop was believed to still be living at Rob’s house, although sources say their relationship has become “strictly financial”.
