Nota Baloyi: Is He God?

JOHANNESBURG — South Africans have been left asking whether controversial music executive and social media personality Nota Baloyi is, in fact, God, after the outspoken commentator reportedly claimed responsibility for several events that occurred without his involvement.

Nota invented SA hip-hop. Nota brought Rick Ross to the hood. Nota was the first person to have freckles. In such cases, it is worth asking whether he is a divine being trapped in a Soweto body.

The comparisons, though, have sparked a nationwide theological debate, with religious scholars, Twitter users and the worst father of all time, Penuel Mlotshwa, weighing in on the matter.

“God created the heavens and the earth,” said one theologian. “Nota asked 50 Cent a question in 2008. We need to be careful with comparisons.”

Baloyi has reportedly rejected the criticism, saying that his critics lack the intellectual capacity to understand his arguments. “I’ve been telling people the truth for years, you understand what I am saying?” he said to a journalist who clearly did not understand what he was saying.
